Ex- Apprentice New Zealand competitor, Chris Whiteside is taking an oath to donate proceeds that is earned from to his new business enterprise during its first year of operation to jilted passengers of charter Company, Fly Direct Ltd.
Whiteside has bought the business from liquidators and re-launched it as travel booking site flydirect. co. nz offering flights, accommodation, rental cars and cruise bookings.
Fly Direct Ltd. was supposed to offer ski holiday packages into Wanaka from Christchurch and Wellington but fell on June 2, just weeks before its getting launched.
A lack of enough sales to cover advance commitments was found responsible for its failure, which left almost 500 people more than $120,000 out of pocket.
Whiteside says all booking commission proceeds that are earned from the site during its first year will be remunerated out to consumers who lost money, as a benevolence gesture.
He said that he himself has a number of times been a victim of liquidations, and the consumers are the ones who lose everything that they put in towards certain thing.
It is expected that this gesture will help a number of people get their portion back, which they had spent, so that they could enjoy their holidays.
