More than 600 residents of South Canterbury, carrying banners and flowers, gathered at the piazza in Timaru, to demonstrate their support for businessman Allan Hubbard. The march is to proceed towards the South Canterbury Finance building.
Once the speeches at the pizza were finished the mass started marching thus, bringing the traffic at city centre to a halt.
After arriving at SCF building, the crowd laid flowers at the door and placed placards in support in the gardens.
In the mean while, Mr. Hubbard's wife Jean appeared and said, "Thank you all, that is all I can really say. Thank you".
The accounts of the 82 years old, the richest man of South Island's, and his wife, have been frozen and Mr. Hubbard was not allowed to attend the office, which he has been serving since last 50 years.
The couple till date, have donated $200 million to charity and also have supported to hundreds of South Canterbury businessmen.
Facebook users have also supported the couple.
Albert Makary, a close friend of the Hubbard’s expressed his concern over the news of the investigation.
The Government on Sunday had appointed statutory managers to Aorangi Securities, following an earlier complaint from an investor.
