Google has won the copyright case as a judge ruled out the 1 billion dollars lawsuit brought by the Viacom accusing Google for allowing its video sharing site YouTube to use copyright materials without prior permission.
Viacom has accused Google of a massive intentional copyright infringement. But the judge in Manhattan erased all the claims saying Google and YouTube could not be held liable for those videos posted illegally.
On the other hand, the Viacom management has planned to appeal against the decision given by the judge at Manhattan. Google has said that the victory as an important one for YouTube. Viacom has claimed that ten thousands of videos under the copyright work had been posted on the video sharing site YouTube.
Viacom has also claimed that the YouTube and the owner Google had been well aware of this matter but had not taken any steps to stop that.
According to Viacom, there are number of shows and TV serials which are being uploaded illegally on YouTube. Viacom has addressed this decision as fundamentally flawed and said it does not reflect any intention to stop the copyright violation activities.
