In what appeared to be a formal voicing of the opinion of most of the gaming aficionados, Peter Molyneux, the creator of high-concept video games like Black & White and Fable, said during an interview with UGO that the Sony PlayStation Move motion controller is quite similar to the Nintendo Wii motion controls.
Saying there is apparently not much of a distinction between PlayStation Move and Wii Remote, Molyneux said: “I find it hard in my mind to differentiate between the Sony Move and the Wii... I know Sony and Nintendo would argue that they are different, but they kind of seem the same.”
Molyneux’s comments essentially echo the opinion that many gamers have already expressed about the similarity between PlayStation Move and Wii Remote – not only do both the devices have an identical appearance, but they also, in general capacity, perform quite like each other.
However, despite overt similarities between the Move and the Wii motion controllers, Sony has been emphasizing the fact that Move – which, along with Microsoft’s Kinect, is set to take on the motion control leader Nintendo Wii - is comparatively a more sophisticated device than the Wii.
According to Sony, while the Wii can recognize only 2D movements, Move can capture the entire depth of motion, thanks to its camera that tracks the movements of the players.
