According to a Sunday Engadget report, Motorola, after having introduced the new Droid X handset, is now working on yet another, thus-far-unheard-of, Android smartphone – the Motorola Charm, which will supposedly run an upgraded version of the company’s proprietary MOTOBLUR interface.
As per Engadget, the notable brick candy-bar style design of the Charm will be fairly akin to the Research in Motion (RIM)’s BlackBerry handsets; thereby showing Motorola’s adoption of the form factor that has been widely accepted by the BlackBerry users.
In addition, the supposed Motorola Charm handset also reportedly has an exposed, portrait mode five-row QWERTY keyboard with capacitive control buttons. Like other MOTOBLUR handsets, the Charm also features the new scalable widgets, along with the other new improvements that MOTOBLUR has brought to the social networking integration and personal communications.
Powered by Google’s Android 2.1 OS, the MOTOBLUR-equipped Charm will allow users to change the size of their home screen “widgets;” while the Facebook and Twitter widgets will feature an upgraded functionality.
Incidentally, for the AT&T customers, Motorola is coming up with another MOTOBLUR smartphone for the carrier – the Motorola FLIPOUT. Going by unconfirmed reports, that device too will run Android 2.1, like the Charm; and is presently going through the mandatory testing rounds for AT&T devices.
