Going by several reports, the latest episode of Late Night with Jimmy Fallon had Reggie Fils-Aime - the Nintendo of America President - making an inadvertent confirmation about the forthcoming Nintendo 3GS gaming console.
In response to Fallon’s questions about the expected launch window of the 3GS, Fils-Aime made a passing remark, saying that the device will hit the markets in 2011. Fils-Aime has already, not so long back, revealed that the 3GS will likely be launched in the US, Europe, and Asia by March 31 next year.
On the Late Night slow, Fils-Aime said: “Nintendo 3DS will not be arriving in 2010. 3DS won’t be appearing until next year.”
The on-show disclosure from Fils-Aime would appear strange to some industry watchers due to two main reasons: firstly, the fourth quarter of a year is generally considered a season of increased sales; and, secondly, because rumor-mills have unofficially been abuzz about the unofficial launch date of the 3DS – October 10, 2010 (10.10.10)!
Meanwhile, the much-awaited console boasts some notable features like - a 3.53-inch top screen and a 3.02-inch bottom touch screen; DMP Pica 200 graphics processor; a motion sensor; a gyro sensor; Wi-Fi
802.11b/g/n controller; and a Slide Pad that allows 360-degree analog input.
In addition, the 3DS has three cameras – one inner and two outer – for delivering the stereo-3D effect and taking stereo-3D pictures; as well as a special slider for increasing, decreasing or disabling stereoscopic 3D effect.
