Rumors abuzz about Google’s potential Facebook contender – ‘Google Me’With the omnipresence of Google already evident from the fact that it helps users search the Internet, send emails to one another, track the places people to go and countless other things, rumors are now making rounds that Google will soon be integrating all the mentioned information into a social website.

The rumor mills went abuzz about the supposed `information integration' move by Google after the founder of the popular site Digg posted a tweet about it. As per his claims, `a very credible source' informed him about the search giant's plans of launching `Google Me' site - a potential contender for the widely-used social networking service Facebook.

As per the opinions expressed on various tech blogs, the rumored `Google Me' site will probably be an expansion of Google Profiles - though these profiles currently have neither a lot of personal information nor interaction, there is apparently a change on the cards.

Most of the bloggers appear all keyed up about a prospective `Google Me' site, provided that it is not something like Google Buzz - the highly controversial, February-launched Gmail social networking tool that exposed users' contacts and massive privacy concerns. No wonder, the move boomeranged on Google!

There are speculations that `Google Me', like Google Wave, will be launched gradually by Google; and will initially be an invite-only feature for the first few months.
