Minister for Economic Development, Gerry Brownlee, declared today that Mesynthes' product Endoform Infection Control, has won the Focus on Health business competition, which was the inaugural event of New Zealand Trade and Enterprise.
The Company is situated in Lower Hutt and manufactures tissue substitute for instant use for wound care and soft tissue reconstruction.
The Company is witnessing an increased number of sales in the United States health market and after the win; it will be all the more popular. It has won cash and in-kind prizes to the tune of $100,000.
The decision was taken by an international panel of judges and they thought that the Company had a clear policy and vision for expansion in the market of the United States. It was also found that the Company had the required capability of getting the reward.
The award was presented by Health Minister Dr Jonathan Coleman yesterday evening, at Auckland War Memorial Museum.
Food and Drug Administration of the United States has already given a nod to the Endoform product of Mesynthes. Other products will also find place in the U. S market soon.
Mesynthes' Endoform Infection Control is meant for use at the surgical places where there are increased chances of post-operative infection.
