The BP officials have said that the storm Alex would not damage the oil spill clean up efforts of the company. But the major issue is it may push the oil farther inland and could delay the plan to double the oil capture capacity of BP.
The senior vice president of exploration, Mr. Kent Wells has said that the storm Alex will not disturb the current oil capture system or the drilling of other two relief wells to plug the leakage by August.
He has also said that the tropical storm could make a delay of around a week in implementing the third oil capture system which was planned to be finished by the end of the June.
Adding to that the midweek boats being used in the process would be forced to back to the port because of the storm.
The National Hurricane Center (NHC) has informed that aid Alex is slowly intensifying. It will be the first hurricane of the Atlantic season. The NHC is expecting the Alex to hit the Mexico-Texas border early on Thursday.
