According to a Wednesday afternoon announcement by Google, a notable new makeover is coming the way of Google News - with the company introducing the service's customizable version that provides a "News for You" stream of stories that the readers find the most interesting.
Noting that Google had been, for a while, testing different means of enhancing the users' ability to customize the Google News page, the company's software engineer Kevin Stolt said in a blog post: "We're also trying to better highlight interesting stories you didn't know existed and to make it easier for you to share stories through social networks."
In an attempt to further improve the usefulness of the stream, users can click on the "Edit personalization" option to specify their level of interest in subjects including business, health, sports, entertainment, and sports, among others.
In addition, the customization can be cancelled by hitting the "Reset personalization" option' and users should simply close the "Edit" box in case they do not wish to customize.
As per the information forwarded by Google, over the next couple of days, the "News for You" feature will become available under the "Top Stories" section at the top of the Google News page. The feature will initially come only for Google News' English-language version in the US, expanding to other languages and countries in the coming months.
