Sony Issues Vaio Laptop RecallA recall has been ordered by Sony and the U. S. Consumer Product Safety Commission for Sony Vaio laptops. It was stressed that these laptops can pose a burn hazard due to potential overheating. This is expected to affect almost half a million laptops across the world.

Sony has also provided a software update to fix this problem. It is telling users to stop using them and immediately update their laptops.

The product recall is for Sony Vaio laptops starting with VPCF11 and VPCWW2. These laptops were mainly sold between January 2010 and April 2010 and ranged from between $800 to $1500.

Sony has confirmed that 535,000 laptops across the world have been affected due to this problem and out of these, 259,000 laptops in the U. S. have been affected because of this issue. A user can also find out if their laptop has been affected by going to Sony's website.

Sony has admitted that it has received 30 reports already and in these cases, it has led to deformed key boards and laptop casings. It can also lead to a potential burn hazard for people, who are using these laptops.

Users are also being advised to call Sony at (866) 496-7669 for any problems and to take advice on how to deal with this issue.

If a user knows that his laptop is affected by this problem, they can download a BIOS firmware update from Sony.
