Americans Knowledge of Seasonal Deaths SkewedA recent national poll reveals that a large number of Americans are of the view that winter is the most unsafe time for driving. The survey was conducted by University of Minnesota's Center for Excellence in Rural Safety.

However, a study conducted by National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has discovered that Fourth of July weekend is the most dangerous time for driving. One in three accidents take place in the summer months. This is considerably high as compared to the winter.

The survey found out that around 83% of Americans think that winter is "the most dangerous season to be driving on rural roadway".

The poll also found out that 8% think that summer is the most hazardous time, while according to 4% fall is the most dangerous time.

Tom Horan of CERS reveals that the intellect of Americans regarding seasonal driving is distorted. The roads in the rural areas are all the more risky.

According to the figures of the U. S. Census, 21% of Americans reside in rural areas. The Federal Highway Administration has discovered that about 57% of highway casualties happen on roads that according to it are rural.
