"Go All The Way" Ad campaign set to woo backpackers
George Hickton, the Chief Executive of Tourism New Zealand

New Zealand Tourism is going to launch its $2 million tourism advertisement campaign wooing travelers who continued their traveling activities despite the global financial crisis. The campaign, dubbed as "Go All The Way," was launched by George Hickton, the Chief Executive of Tourism New Zealand, in Auckland amid trials for travelers.

Mr. Hickton said: "Despite the economic downturn, youth travelers are not put off by ticket prices and they are very driven to get to the destinations they want to see. New Zealand is seen as worth the effort, but in this competitive market, we need to push them to make that commitment to get here."

New Zealand's tourism sector reported a decline of 2.8 per cent, but showed recovery in the first half with 4 per cent increase in tourist's number by June this year. The government has been paying special focus to woo the 'young' market as youth spend more time in the country than any other class of travelers.

The Ad campaign will cover northern hemisphere travelers in Britain, Europe and Scandinavia, besides Australia's east coast, to promote country as an attractive destination.

Mr. Hickton further added, "Many backpackers from the UK and Europe go as far as Australia in their gap year, but we want to challenge them to complete the journey and `Go All The Way' by coming down to New Zealand."
