A new bridge in Brisbane, Go Between Bridge will be opened for public on July 5. The bridge will link the northern and western suburbs to South Brisbane and West End, said by the Brisbane's Lord Mayor Campbell Newman. He also said that this new bridge will take edge off the traffic around CBD.
Go Between Bridge is named on the Brisbane indie rock band The Go-Betweens. This bridge is the one and only bridge with special pedestrian and cyleways. It has been announced that before it is opened for public traffic, there would be a family market day as its opening ceremony on Sunday.
Toll charges paid for crossing this bridge will be offered at discounted prices, like motorist have to pay $1.50 until December 31. But the toll would be increased to $2 from January 1, 2011. Afterwards it will become stable at $2.35 plus CPI. It is expected that every day 12000 vehicles would use this bridge for transmission.
