All those planning to visit the July parade and the other open-air ceremonies in Rhode Island on Monday are being warned of their exposure to poor quality of air at the site.
The Rhode Island Public Transportation Authority roads will be kept free on Monday, told the state Department of Environmental Management.
The department officials said that the air around the event site will be highly impure due to the humidity over the Northeast range.
They further said that excessive presence of ozone in air can lead to irritation in throats and arouse problems like coughing, broken breaths, chest pains and respiratory infections.
Additionally, the humid air can deteriorate conditions of asthma and other respiratory problems in the patients. Those, who indulge in rigorous exercises, will tend to suffer from breathing inabilities, all the more.
The department suggested that people should avoid exercising outside and stay in air-conditioned surroundings, particularly during afternoon and early evening.
The experts explained that excessive heating of the air invites the volume of ozone to assimilate in the air. The major contributors in the formation of smog are the exhaust fans in the vehicles.
