Third Contender For Mayorship Steps In

The fight to be Auckland's super city Mayor appears to be a two horse race between Auckland City Mayor, John Banks and Manukau Mayor, Len Brown, but it seems that a third contender is trying his best to make a room for his own place in the contest.

The Warehouse founder, Sir Stephen Tindall, has been seen as a rightful entrant in the race to gain the seat of mayorship.

Political commentator, Matt McCarten says that Tindall's candidature would mean a specific threat to Brown, but would surely be a helping hand for Banks.

This is probably because Banks has been able to secure his vote, he's got his third, he needs a third candidate to snatch away the votes from Brown, he told TV ONE's Breakfast.

McCarten says that people have a clear knowledge that there is a left candidate and a right candidate.

He said that Banks is very eager to get a left candidate.

McCarten is of the suggestion that if perhaps Banks and Brown had run a tight crusade, they might not be under threat by a probable newcomer, who might conquer the throne, however, their mistakes have compelled people to give a second thought before they vote in their favor.
