Obesity on Rise Among Kids in the U.S.

Obesity on Rise Among Kids in the U.S.Obesity is on the rise amongst kids in the United States of America, says the 2007-2008 National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey, which found that 17% of American kids and adolescents aged two to 19 years are obese.

Amongst pre-school-age kids that are aged 2 to 5 years, obesity augmented from 5 between 1976 and 1980 to 10.4% between 2007 and 2008.

Amongst 6 to 11 years old kids, obesity enlarged from 6.5 to 19.6% and amongst adolescents aged 12 to 19, obesity increased from 5 to 18.1% during the similar period.

Childhood obesity is related to health conditions, for example cardiovascular disease, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, and Type2 diabetes than their age-mates with normal weight.

A report titled F as in Fat: How Obesity Threatens America's Future 2010, released on June 30 by Trust for America's Health and Robert Wood Johnson Foundation, says at present no less than 12 million kids and adolescents are measured as obese in contrast to 25% of adults in 38 states.

Obese kids and adolescents are also more probable to become obese after they become adults. One reading depicted that 80% of kids are overweight at the age of 10 to 15 years and then ended up becoming obese at the age of 25 years.
