NHS Wings Undertake Job Cuts

NHS Wings Undertake Job CutsRoyal College of Nursing released a warning today over the rapid number of job cuts observed at the NHS over the last few months, in spite of the government’s claims of providing job security to all.

According to review of as many as 100 NHS wings, conducted by the union, more than 9,973 job cuts have been reported in the trusts due to a number of factors, including recruitment halts and retirement of senior staff.

The net reduction in the number of jobs over the last 6 months accounts to a per day cut of 47 jobs.

In April, RCN had proclaimed as many as 5,600 layoffs directed at the trusts across England.

Peter Carter, Chief Executive of the union, said that the recent figures are indicative of insecurities in the future.

“We have hard evidence of 10,000 jobs. This is from 20% of the NHS, so if it was replicated, it would be very worrying”, he said.

The review revealed that NHS wings have undertaken a number of austerity measures in order to ensure quality treatment for the patients.

Around 25 of the trusts have scheduled obligatory joblessness, while other observed the job cuts for saving money.
