NHS Wings Take Up Job Cuts

In spite of the commitments made by the ministers regarding the job security measures in the healthcare sector, as many as 10,000 jobs at the NHS units are scheduled to be reduced shortly, said Royal College of Nursing.

The job cuts are resultant of the halt in the new hiring, as well as, the non-retirement in the older staffers.

RCN fears that the estimations are below the original marks of count. The above figures have been released after a survey conducted on only 100 of the total 400 wings of NHS in the country.

Dr. Peter Carter, General Secretary and Chief Executive of the RCN, said that the number of staffers is being reduced, every month at the NHS divisions.

The greatest concern aroused with the job cuts is that the lives of the patients are on stake. With the reduced number of medicos available for the treatment, the patients' care will get affected.

Peter requested the ministers to ensure that NHS authorities get more transparent with their planning.

"Our figures expose the myth that front line services will be protected as NHS bodies begin their drive to create huge efficiencies", he added.
