In its most recent attempt to bring in revenue from advertisers, the popular microblogging site Twitter has announced the launch of its “earlybird” deals feed – with the first post on the feed on Tuesday essentially connecting the users to its website page describing the mechanism will work for the followers and the advertisers.
The Earlybird Exclusive Offers on Twitter will be an ongoing series of time-constrained deals, sneak peeks, and events promoted by the newly-launched @earlybird Twitter account.
Going by the details forwarded by Twitter, the site will work with advertisers to retweet the deals that will exclusively be offered to the Twitter users. The terms pertaining to each of the offers, including price, amount, and availability, will be ascertained by the participating advertisers – thereby marking a procedure similar to the one used by other sites – like Woot and Gilt - which offer discounted items on a one-time basis.
Noting that the company will chiefly focus on making the deals interesting as well as of value to the Twitter users, the company said on its site: “We take pride in being selective about the type of deals we highlight and hope they will be an exciting way to start your day.”
Furthermore, though Twitter will basically consider locally targeted offers, it also intends working with bigwig overseas advertisers to offer such deals in the future.
