Rugby World Cup Tickets Contribute to a Rise in Card TransactionsAccording to Statistics New Zealand data, buying of rugby world cup tickets have added to an increase in electronic card transactions in June, in contrast to the preceding month.

SNZ said that each and every industry, except for fuel, had increases.

Overall electronic card transactions were upbeat a seasonally amended 0.7% from May, with a 1.5% raise in non-retail businesses that comprised services like travel and health, and wholesaling.

The rise in overall transactions followed an increase of 0.3% in May and a drop of 1% in April.

With a 3.1% dip in fuel sales, retail industry businesses were upbeat only 0.4%, the same rise as in May.

In core retail, transactions climbed 0.6%, subsequent to a 1.1% surge in May, excluding vehicle-related businesses, SNZ said.

The core trade increase was guided by a 0.7% gain in the consumables group that consisted of food, liquor and chemist vending.

The real - not seasonally altered - value of transactions in the core retail series went up by 4%, from a year before.

Every twelve months, credit card usage, as a fraction of the whole transaction value, had been plummeting, since September 2008, with a corresponding surge in debit card use, SNZ said.

Credit cards made up for 44% of spending in the year to June 2010, the minimum percentage, since the series started.
