In a recent video demonstration, Research In Motion (RIM) has unveiled some of the new features of its forthcoming Blackberry 6 operating system - an overhauled version of the BlackBerry OS that was first introduced by the company at its April conference.
The video demonstrations on YouTube, as well as some sneak peeks appearing on the RIM blog, indicate that the highlights of the BlackBerry 6 will chiefly include a notably revamped home screen, a new universal search tool, context-sensitive menus, and a brand new BlackBerry Browser, based on Apple's WebKit technology.
In addition, another one of the most noteworthy enhancements that the BlackBerry 6 boasts is improved notifications, which will clearly display missed calls/voicemails, new emails, and upcoming calendar entries. Furthermore, the much-refreshed email application will also apparently include better multimedia support, like embedded photos.
Moreover, a new Social Feeds app of the BlackBerry 6 will integrate information from social networking sites into one coherent stream; and users wishing to share the latest personal news can immediately update several networks with concurrent postings.
With the on-screen software QWERTY keyboard, the revamped user interface of the BlackBerry 6 will provide support touch devices; and the much pepped up SMS/MMS app will give a more attractive look to threaded conversations.
Though RIM has refrained from disclosing the official launch date of the BlackBerry 6, there are speculations galore about a `near September 30' release.
