Close on the heels of Twitter’s last-week announcement of ‘earlybird’, the microblogging site’s first account from promoting deals from select advertisers, the company Wednesday launched its first deal – a ticket special for “The Sorcerer’s Apprentice” by Walt Disney Pictures.
Noting that ‘earlybird’ had launched its first deal, the Twitter Blog said on Wednesday: “We're excited to launch the first @earlybird Exclusive Offer, in partnership with The Walt Disney Studios. For a limited time, @earlybird followers in the US can get a special deal on tickets for “The Sorcerer's Apprentice,” a new feature film from Walt Disney Pictures and Jerry Bruckheimer Films that opens in theaters today.”
In addition to announcing the first ‘earlybird’ deal, the San Francisco-based microblogging site also revealed that it is working with other deal sites – like Groupon and Gilt Groupe – about exclusive offers for its ‘@earlybird’ feed.
Talking about the potential association with Groupon and Gilt Groupe, Twitter spokesman Matt Graves said on the company’s official blog that the mentioned sites, as well as Twitter advertisers directly, will put forth deals for ‘earlybird.’
Meanwhile, ever since the announcement of the ‘@earlybird’ feed, over 46,000 Twitter members have already signed to follow the account. As per a Twitter explanation, while the feed is essentially a way to pull in revenue, the company also expects the deals to be “interesting and of value” to ‘earlybird’ followers.
