In a recent announcement, Sony has revealed that some of the owners of its PlayStation 3 console will get access to the Hulu Plus subscription service – Hulu’s new $9.99-per-month premium video-subscription plan.
Sony further said that PS3 will be the only console with the Hulu Plus streaming ability, which will become available within weeks.
The Hulu Plus access will initially be available to only those PS3 owners, in the US, who have already subscribed to Sony’s new $49.99-per-year PlayStation Plus network subscription service. However, the Hulu Plus service will later be rolled out to all the PS3 owners in the country, over the coming months.
Hulu Plus is already available on Apple devices - iPhones, iPads and iPod Touch -, and some select Samsung TVs and Blu-ray players.
The Hulu Plus subscription plan offers the Hulu viewers some additional content, over and above the content that they get from a free Web version that essentially includes only some recent episodes of shows.
As a result, Hulu Plus subscription entails a notable improvement in terms of accessibility to content – rather than watching the trailing five episodes of a given show, the subscribers for the service will also be able to watch back seasons of the shows; as well as get season passes for most current shows.
