Android boosts the sale of smartphone market Google's Android OS said to have increased its share in US when compared with reports of rivals in the month of May.

According to the released data the market share of America's 234 million mobile phone users, it was observed that rival IS platforms, claims that Android has witnessed the biggest leap. It was seen that Apple and RIM witnessed a fall in market share off late.

According to comScore Samsung enjoys the number one slot for the top mobile device vendor in the US, with a market share of 22.4 per cent, up by 1 per cent from February 2010. This was closely followed after by LG and Motorola, with a 21.5 and 21.2 per cent market share respectively.

It was further stated that in case of the present smartphone market, RIM remains the undisputed leader capturing a 41.7 per cent of the market, which came down 0.4 per cent from February 2010.

On the other hand Apple fell 1 per cent to 24.4 per cent.

Meanwhile Google's Android platform witnessed a rise in market share with 4 per cent climbing up to 13 per cent.
