According to a DigiTimes report, Apple will likely launch its 11.6-inch MacBook Air, which appears to be a flashy business laptop aimed at status-seeking corporate executives, in the 2010 second-half.
The DigiTimes report, citing component manufacturers, said that the new MacBook Air will feature a thinner and lighter form factor, and an Intel Core ultra-low-voltage processor. Predicting the sales output for the device, the report has put the estimated figures at 400,000 units.
As per DigiTimes Research’s senior analyst Mingchi Kuo, the ODM manufacturing the forthcoming MacBook Air will be Quanta Computer. The expected price of the new MacBook will likely be in excess of $1000; thereby making the device more of a high-end business laptop designed for an upscale, niche market.
In addition to the reported news about the MacBook Air, the DigiTimes report also revealed that Apple also preparing to release a new iPod Touch which will use the company’s speedy A4 processor, which is also used in the iPhone 4. The new Touch, which will likely debut in either August or September, will also feature a 3-megapixel camera.
However, according to a rumor that started making rounds in UK last week, the iPod Touch will probably feature a 5-megapixel camera and FaceTime video chat.
