NZ reports rise in house prices, new listings in September

Property listing increased 19 per cent in September, according to the latest research from industry-owned real estate listings website realestate. co. nz. New Zealand experienced shortage of property listed for sales in past few months, but the recent rise in listing indicates softening of the trend, with more property being available for sale in the market.

New Zealand reported increase in listing first time in 2009 on yearly basis as well. NZ Property Report, a monthly survey of property market by the website, also found 6 per cent increase in vendors' asking price, breaking the subdued trend and price expectations.

Alistair Helm, Chief Executive of Realestate. co. nz, said that it was earlier expected the increase in both the number of listings and the price expectations and the recent study proved the fact. He expressed surprise over the steep increase in figures that, as per the website, indicate a strong position of the property market.

Alistair Helm said: "While we always expect an increase in both the number of listings and the price expectations during the spring/summer period, this relatively large jump on both figures is a strong indicator of improved health in the property market."
