Site getting many “whistle-blower disclosures of high caliber”Addressing the TED Global conference on Friday, Julian Assange - the founder and Editor-in-chief of the document-sharing site WikiLeaks. org –said that the site is growing at an overwhelming pace.

At the conference, making of one of his rare public appearances, Assange said that the WikiLeaks website – the site behind the release of a secret video of a US airstrike in Iraq – has managed to get “an enormous quantity of whistle-blower disclosures of high caliber.”

In a post-conference conversation with the reporters, Assange said that the WikiLeaks site, which has gained both positive and negative publicity, has comprehensive information about “many things which are very explosive;” but most of the content of its voluminous new material lacks the requisite substantiation.

Assange further added that the various content contributions from whistle-blowers, who sending their posts in a number of ways including postal mail, is scrutinized by the organization before the material is released it to the public. As and when required, the organization defends itself against “the regular political or legal attack.”

Assange also said that, most of the times, WikiLeaks does not know the identity of the source of a particular leak – and in case it does find out the details about the source, the personal information is destroyed at the earliest possible.
