Verizon: Motorola Droid X already sold out online and at various retail stores!

Motorola Droid X already sold out online and at various retail stores! That the July 15-released Motorola Droid X handset is apparently an opening day hit became evident from the disclosure on the Verizon Wireless Web site that the carrier has already sold out the handset online as well as various retail shops across the country! However, there has been no official disclosure of the number of Droid X handsets sold thus far.

The Verizon statement was corroborated by at least one more site - PhoneArena. com – which said that many of the stores have exhausted their first batch of the Droid X; with most of the stores called up by the site on Thursday, July 15, saying that they had run out of the Droid X stock.

The reports about the selling out of the Droid X stock are surprising because only earlier this week Verizon spokesperson Brenda Raney had told CNet: “At present, we feel that we have done everything possible to ensure we have inventory to meet customer needs around the Droid X -- the proof will be in the execution on July 15.”

Apparently, the strong multimedia focus of the Droid X is resonating with the buyers – what with the handset’s large 4.3-inch screen; 8-megapixel camera; HDMI output; and a high-definition 720p video-capture.

In fact, given the notably compelling hardware features and its multimedia toolkit, the Droid X might just serve as a replacement for laptop, particularly for employees who spend a lot of time in the field.
