Apple has supposedly increased its stake in laptop market with nearly one in ten notebooks sold in the second quarter of 2010 has Apple’s logo.
It was through the a poll done by research firm Gartner that rated Apple’s share at the US laptop market risen to 9.8 per cent from a market share of 9.1 per cent during Q2 2009.
A record of its own the company has stated that this stats represents a growth in actual sales of 24.7 per cent since 2009.
It was further stated that the research firm did not introduce Apple's iPad in the study, claiming that the immense fame of the device might have a cannibalization effect on the market, as the new category may eat up the old existing products.
Chief analyst at Gartner, Mikako Kitagawa, stated: “Surging popularity of Apple's iPad temporarily cannibalized mini-notebooks, as well as consumer notebook sales to some degree. It is not certain at this stage if the cannibalization will continue with the current price."
Also the figures released by the analysts at IDC reveals that desktop PCs outsold than laptops.
