Melbourne Woman Plight got Rewarded

Melbourne Woman Plight got RewardedBronwyn Hooper, a Melbourne woman, aging 47 have won a case against her surgeon Dr. Narine Efe, who treated her breast cancer and disfigured her breast by leaving holes in it. He had removed 1.5kg of tissue from each breast, but the wounds didn't heal and there was a golf ball-sized hole in her left breast.

Hooper won the case after five years. She was granted $133,000 as compensation against damages. Judge Frank Saccardo gave his judgment and punished Dr. Efe for mistreatment of Ms. Hooper. He stated that by doing so, he aggravated the complications of the patient.

Alice O'Kane, advocate of Ms. Hooper told that there were three-four options available for treating breast cancer, but the doctor didn't consult Ms. Hooper for the same and went ahead with an incorrect process.

As expressed by Ms. Hooper, it was a big decision for her to sue a breast surgeon. She had been suffering from both mental and physical dilemma. She tolerated the pain for several months.

Firstly, she consulted Hobart's GP and he operated her within days. She passed through three operations and along with three reconstruction operations. In April 2004, the final operation took place, but the reconstruction surgery ended in October 2006.
