Despite the fact that Verizon online store has pushed back the shipping date of the Thursday-released Motorola Droid X to July 23, in an attempt to keep pace with increasing demand of the handset, buyers interested in laying the hands on the device at the earliest can look elsewhere – like at Amazon.com.
Apparently, as of now, Amazon.com listing says the Droid X is ‘in stock’ and ‘available.’ Incidentally, the online retail biggie’s is selling the handset with a two-year contract for at $179.99, which is almost a $20 markdown from the price of the much-hyped smartphone at either Verizon or Best Buy. Those customers who want the handset without the contract can purchase it unsubsidized for $569.99.
Other than Amazon, online mobile handset retailer Wirefly is also currently listing the Motorola Droid X as ‘in stock’ and ‘available for shipping.’ Nonetheless, the site also notes that it has a limited number of the handsets; and is shipping them on a “first-come first-served basis.” The price-tag of the Droid X from Wirefly is $179.99 with a two-year contract or $579.99 unsubsidized.
In addition, both Amazon and Wirefly are offering free standard shipping with all the purchases of the Droid X.
Meanwhile, Verizon may even extend the delay in the Droid X shipping date to August 3 for all online orders; and Best Buy, another store selling the Droid X, is currently sold out of the handset altogether.
