QAC Wants Porter to Remove Himself from Airport DebateSome of the companies of Chamber of Commerce are separately involved in "several ongoing disputes" with Queenstown Airport Corporation; hence it wants that chairman Alastair Porter Porter should take himself out of the airport debate.

It was announced that Auckland International Airport Ltd. has purchased a 24.99 per cent share for $27.7 million. The Chamber is struggling any further sale of the local airport and it looking forward to an investigation into the secret deal.

The Queenstown Community Strategic Assets Group has been formed by high-profile businessmen, so as to stop the deal from materializing. Porter is also a member of the same group.

QAC Chairman, Mark Taylor shared that Porter's involvement is "threatening the credibility" of the Chamber.

He said, "Mr. Porter has a clear conflict of interest, and as a result Chamber members are considering a one-sided, biased and incorrect brief that supports his business interests rather than the interests of the wider Chamber membership".

Taylor shared that a current QLDC plan change over noise boundaries has been opposed by RPL, which has also fought the Shotover Delta Project, flight fan amendments and the runway extension safety area.

Porter was not available for a comment on the same.
