In a complete contrast to Apple’s handling of the iPhone 4’s antenna issue, Motorola and Verizon Wireless have been exceedingly prompt in reacting to a Droid X display issue, by releasing a fix to resolve the problem that reportedly affected “a very small number” of users.
According to reports, the some early users of the hotly-selling Droid X were apparently facing a ‘banding’ problem, because of which the screen of the device either flickered or vertical bands appeared on it.
Acknowledging that less than one-tenth of the Droid X handsets are affected by the ‘banding’ problem, a Verizon spokesperson said: “Verizon Wireless and Motorola are aware of a very small number of Droid X units that have experienced a flickering or banding display. Motorola has resolved the issue and is continuing to ship the phones.”
The spokesperson further added that while an update to resolve the issue is being pushed out to the affected users, any Droid X consumer with a handset that has a flickering or banding display should either contact Verizon Wireless or Motorola customer support center.
Praising the manner in which Verizon and Motorola have handled the Droid X’s ‘banding’ issue, J. Gold Associates’ analyst Jack Gold said that people “can deal with a problem if you admit you have one and go ahead and tell them you will fix it. That is called customer service.”
