Many experts have shed light on changes to superannuation. They have outlined that the country can no longer keep offering superannuation from the people above the age of 65.
However, the claim has landed the Government in a befuddling situation, as it wants to keep itself away from such critical issues, primarily because it does not want to lose its precious senior citizen votes.
Retirement Commissioner Diana Crossan feels that the very term retirement has itself emerged as a misnomer for many aged people.
"But now people are making major changes. You hear of all sorts of people wanting to go into horticulture, run a hotel, or do something completely different. It's another whole career. So it's not just a transition anymore", he highlighted.
The data has revealed that nearly 33% of Kiwis in the age bracket of 65 to 70 still work as labor, compared with about 11% recorded 20 years ago.
As the baby boomers are on the verge of getting into their retirement age from the next year, Dr. Nana feels that in order to keep the issues at bay as the pensions and healthcare costs will render a severe pressure on future generations.
