Although world’s leading social networking site Facebook has crossed the 500 million users mark, as many as 40,000 of the users are complaining of security hassles.
The net worth of the site has reached $10bn. The privacy of a number of users has been reported to have been hindered by the developers associated with the site.
Olivier Glassey, a sociologist at the University of Lausanne, Switzerland has raised his objections over the treatment given to the Facebook users.
"We are providing a lot of information and we do not know how this information is used by them or even what kind of information Facebook is processing”, he said.
He added that if the Company works on the privacy settings, it may win back the confidence of the agitated users.
A concern has been raised by one of the regular Facebook users, who said that there is no guarantee provided by the site as to whether the data available on the site is true.
In particular, the teenaged users are vulnerable to the faulty information.
The user said that there is no assurance that the photographs one posts are visible only to the friends and not strangers.
