Health Minister Khaw Boon Wan has announced that a new Khoo Teck Puat Hospital in Yishun would be very helpful. This new hospital will reduce the burden of many general hospitals in Singapore.
Mr. Khaw on Saturday morning stated that 200 more beds would lessen the crisis situation in the hospitals. The Accidents and Emergency Department has to treat over 200 people in a day and the number of cases in outpatient clinics is over 800.
The new hospital will solve the problems of other crowded hospitals like Tan Tock Seng. Health Minister also said that from Monday, ambulance service would be started to get the patient to this new hospital.
He said that the motive behind the new hospital was that patients should have maximum options and they should not be waiting more than 10 hours to get a bed.
It is very appreciable that the situations in the last few weeks have become better, remarkably.
The Health Minister also said that the Ministry has planned not to vacate the old Alexandra Hospital site until Jurong hospital starts in the year 2015. The beds of Alexandra would be kept as an extra stock.
In the last few years, the hospitals had to face high bed crisis and due to that many surgeries had to be postponed.
