The most paradigms shifting SUV of Ford was Explorer. It brought about a change in the way the SUV market was created and served its audience.
Although it turned out to be a money minting machine for Ford, its design and especially its ability to handle the rough terrains has been under question. Most of the safety scare has been with respect to its
Firestone tires even though it is known for its comfort levels.
But changing times made it less performing than it has been earlier. Rising competition, increasing copiers and also rising gas prices have proved to be close to fatal for the Explorer. And when this happened, Ford was forced to go back to meetings and thinking to able to get what was once the market leader back to its feet.
After a lot of tussle and bustle, Ford is going to reveal the redesigned Explorer on Monday. It is said that the new design is such that the Explorer will be lighter, more fuel-efficient and more apt to face the competition.
Analysts are saying that Ford needs to get something better out of this as it is the pivotal brand of Ford.
