Sheppard to Step Down As Chairman of NZSA

Sheppard to Step Down As Chairman of NZSAAccording to a recent report, New Zealand Shareholders Association had organized its 10th annual meeting in Auckland.

This meeting was the last one for its Chairman Bruce Sheppard, who is resigning from the post in order to become a part of Financial Markets Authority establishment Board. Currently, the FMA is headed by Simon Botherway.

Mr. Shepherd will be replaced by John Hawkins.

He said that his organization has voiced out the concerns of small investors.

He revealed that the organization has won many battles in the previous ten years. He said that he is happy that the capital market has become a priority for the Government.

Mr. Shepherd disclosed that for the past so many years his organization is highlighting the significance of saving as well as investing.

He said that these issues are now being actively taken up by the media, but this was not the scenario a decade back.

His organization has also been instrumental in discouraging Companies from taking up new executive schemes. The reason behind it is that NZSA is of the view that such schemes are expensive and also depreciate the value.

At the meeting, Mr. Sheppard was appreciated for his efforts by Commerce Minister Simon Power.
