According to this year’s National Business Review Rich List, people in the technology world have turned to be the big shots of the country.
Unlike most of the rich people getting their money through investments and property, the new upcoming list comprises the innovative technical people. NBR Editor-in-Chief, Nevil Gibson has said that the future rich list will have many entries from the IT.
Trade Me's Sam Morgan is holding the first place among the technology people. He has a fortune of $300 million. In the overall list, his rank is 19.
The current list of richest people includes ordinary people such as Michael Hill, Steven Tindall and Graeme Hart. The list has 14 people from the technology sector.
Mr. Gibson has said that IT Companies have shown a remarkable growth in the recent years, therefore, it is very likely that the next list will have many people from it.
This year’s list has presented stability in the property of the people, as most of the people in the list were there in the last list, as well.
The report has also said that people in New Zealand envy the rich people. In New Zealand, people don’t have inherited property; rather they have earned it themselves.
