Oz Boy diagnosed with Goldenhar syndromeAn OZ boy who is about one year old has been diagnosed with the Goldenhar syndrome that has taken away is ability to learn how to drink and eat normally and this has put his parents in an unwanted situation.

Goldenhar syndrome is a rare defect that takes place at the time of birth and in this the baby’s lip, ear, nose, soft palate, and mandible has not been developed fully which makes it difficult for the child to eat and drink in a normal way and which calls for a tube to feed the child.

His parents are residents of Encounter Bay in Adelaide. Joanne and Shannon White will be attending a three-week course in Graz in Austria that will teach teach children how to eat on their own.

Joanne White said, “He has never learnt how to eat and we’ve done everything, from simple things like rubbing his gums to more complex things and doctors are at their wits. People say why don’t you offer him something sweet, that will work but it’s just not that simple. His tongue doesn’t work, there are a lot of problems.”
