In Christchurch about 13,000 TelstraClear customers had to work offline due to a software fault, but the broadband service has been restored to all customers by 7.30 pm today. TelstraClear Spokeswoman Diane Robinson shared that half of the Company's internet clients were affected by the disruption of the service.
The customer section of Telstra Clear's website depicts a message in which Christchurch customers are advised of "major disruptions", as they would "experience a loss of service to their Cable Modem High Speed internet".
Robinson revealed that the disruptions also affected television customers and that the Company will look into the matter tomorrow.
She shared that it will be too early to explain the cause behind the outage. The issue will be investigated by the Company tomorrow. Irregular outages also occurred on July 26, which affected 150 customers in Christchurch, Wellington and Kapiti.
She shared further that customers are gradually gaining reconnection and the main emphasis is to speed up that process.
