At the backdrop of a lead contamination dispute that took place in North Australian mining town stated that her daughter's health was deteriorating every day.
Eight-year-old Stella had dangerous levels of lead in her blood and had to spend a lot of time in hospital. Daphne Hare, Stella's mother, said Stella was facing difficulties in learning and overall health.
Hare added, "She's not a well child at the moment. She's got gastro-intestinal problems and intellectual disabilities."
Her mom further informed that Stella could not remember things told to her by her teachers stating that this made her have a tough time in school.
She added, "She's receiving counseling to deal with her intellectual disabilities."
Anglo-Swiss mining giant Xstrata is being sued by the Hares and six other families over alleged lead toxicity in the town of Mt Isa. A study further made the picture clear that every nine days a child here was developing lead poisoning.
Stella's body has shown that there are very high levels of lead and 10 other metals that are extremely dangerous. Lawyers said that this can be blamed onto Xstrata only.
