Indian government will use a new way to spread awareness about HIV/AIDS. Reports say that a decision to set up Condom Vending Machines will be set up at Commonwealth Games village.
Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Rajasthan, Orissa, Bihar, Jharkhand, West Bengal and Maharashtra are some of the states where FC is being made available as of now.
Other nine states where FC would be given to FSWs would be Punjab, Delhi, Haryana, Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, Karnataka, Assam, Chhattisgarh and Uttar Pradesh.
Apart form this here is a plan to give free condoms to support staff and players by the National AIDS Control Organisation (NACO). A condom will be delivered by the vending machine by putting in Rs 5 coin.
About 20 machines are being planned to be set up by the Centre. Reports add that during the games about one lakh condoms will be dispensed.
After reviewing data from 17 states, a decision on a nationwide initiative will be undertaken. About 1.5 million FCs have been doled out by NACO since 2008.
