The sales of home ware and sporting goods retailer, Briscoe Group seems to be booming, as the Company has posted that its half-yearly sales have increased by 2.61%, but there is no positive expectations for the profits to get the increase.
There is a surge of 2.49% in the Company's overall sales. The sales in the home ware segment grew by 1.73% and that in sporting goods rose 4.47%. The half-yearly sales till August 1 touched the mark of $190 million, higher than $185.3 million, witnessed last year the same time.
Talking about the second-quarter sales, the Company's sales climbed up 1.93% to $93.3 million, which is lower than the last year Q2 sale of $95.1 million. Also, the sales of home ware products slumped 3.64% to $64.9 million and that of sporting goods fell 2.22% to $28.4 million.
The sales in the second-quarter declined due to the prevailing weather conditions of moderate temperature, as told by Rod Duke, Group's Managing Director.
He said, "We're pleased with this interim result given the current retail environment. Sales and gross profit will be up on last year and costs have been well managed during this first six months".
He further added that they experienced a rise in their earnings before interest and tax, which they expect to increase by 30% from last year's data.
