Kia Motors, the second largest automobile manufacturer in South Korea, launched its brand new crossover utility vehicle, Kia Sportage.
This Kia's latest fashion would be running on DynamaxTM All-Wheel-Drive (AWD) system, a reformed AWD set-up manufactured by Magna Powertrain. Kia Sportage will hit the markets in October 2010 with a 2-liter engine, a weight reduced by 91kg and a bigger interior space.
Peter Schreyer, Design Chief, commented on the new Kia saying that the Company has designed a vehicle, which fits the criteria of a sports car, adding, "the side-windows are very narrow and give an almost rally-car feeling. Follow the shoulder and roof lines and they meet at the striking reverse-angled C-pillar". This C-pillar proportionality, according to Schreyer, is very important, as it affects the whole appearance of the vehicle.
Regarding the Dynamax AWD system, Soon-Nam Lee, Director of Overseas Marketing of Kia Motors reported that the new reformed system is "a significant technical advance". He also welcomed the release of the Sportage CUV, describing it as an "exciting" member to the Kia family, which is intended to appeal to a broader range of users than the earlier models.
