Qld Govt. Welcomes Casino Proposal by Tabcorp

Qld Govt. Welcomes Casino Proposal by TabcorpIn concern to the investment proposals of State's casinos, the Queensland Government has asked Tabcorp to give a detailed submission over the plans. It has been planned by Tabcorp to invest more than half a billion dollars on two new magnificent hotels on the Gold Coast and in Brisbane, and also on 1000 poker devices.

Treasurer Andrew Fraser informed that the proposal given by Tabcorp was welcomed by the Government.

He said, "This project has the potential to deliver jobs and a boost to our economy. The project has the exciting potential to provide a welcome boost to the tourism infrastructure on the Gold Coast and a new five star hotel in Brisbane's CBD".

In order to keep away from any sensitivity issues, the Company has asked the Government to vend it licenses to used poker machines to put up in the two casinos that are being developed. This huge investment can bring a great shot in the State's poor tourism industry.

With this, the State will also win back more high-rollers that have been lost to the casino markets of Asia, Sydney and Melbourne. But, this can be possible only if the State Government grants the Tabcorp Company more poker machine licenses.
