Alberta Health Services has recently warned those who are suffering from multiple sclerosis and against planning to go abroad for liberation treatment.
These patients have been advised to consult medical experts before making decision based on positive anecdotal evidence from fellow sufferers because the much hyped procedure has not been proven yet and could lead to severe medical problems.
The provincial health authority strongly advises in a position paper on the subject and says, “People with MS should be wary about getting information solely from media stories and reports or from patients’ blogs, be careful about where you get information and where you go for treatment.”
The statement critically comments on the original research study done by Dr. Paolo Zamboni of Italy. He was the one who found that 90 percent of MS patients in his 2008 study had a medical condition known as CCSVI or chronic cerebrospinal venous insufficiency.
Under this condition malformed or blocked veins in the neck were not capable of draining enough blood from the brain.
