Gap to be given between a miscarriage and another pregnancy

A new study published in the British Medical Journal suggests that women who have had a miscarriage should try to have another pregnancy immediately to have a healthy baby.

The results of the study suggest that women who became pregnant within six months of a miscarriage were more likely to have a healthy pregnancy in comparison to those who delayed six months or even longer to get pregnant again.

According to the World Health Organization, women are recommended to wait for at least six months before conceiving again.

In a study conducted by Sohinee Bhattacharya and colleagues from the University of Aberdeen, over 30,000 women were examined who attended maternal care between the years 1981 and 2000 at the Scottish Hospitals. All these women had another pregnancy after miscarriage.

The researchers found that women who conceived within six months from a miscarriage had a much lower risk of another miscarriage, ectopic pregnancy or other such complications when compared to those who conceived after six months.
