The Canadian Company, Research In Motion Ltd. (RIM), has been permitted today by Saudi Arabia that the former can carry on with its BlackBerry services in the country. But with this, RIM has also been asked to place a system, which will allow the Kingdom to scrutinize the user data.
The previous midnight was set as the second deadline by the country, but it also passed without the shutting down of the instant messaging of BlackBerry. With this, the Ontario-based RIM, Waterloo, and other three wireless Companies of the Kingdom have been granted some more time, so that they can overcome a technical fix, which will allow their services to comply with the local laws, as reported by the Saudi Press Agency.
Also, with this, the ban on the BlackBerry messenger has been delayed until further notice, because the cut-off date has passed, which was set to find a way out, allowing the authorities to check the service on the smartphone.
Since, BlackBerry service is showing improvement in the ultra-conservative Muslim country, therefore, the telecom watchdogs have allowed it to remain online for a longer span of time. Also, with this decision, the Saudi BlackBerry users are contented.
Simon Simonian, an Analyst at Shuaa Capital PSC, said, “The fact that there is no new deadline indicates they are close to a solution. Until it becomes official, it’s not official”.
